FTTH programme officially launched
Open eir today officially launched its Fibre to the Home (FTTH) programme.
An initial 24,000 premises in 15 regional communities including Letterkenny, Cavan and Kilkenny are now able to order superfast fibre broadband at speeds of 1Gb/s.
In addition to the regional FTTH rollout, between 2017-2020 open eir will roll out FTTH services to approximately 300,000 premises across rural Ireland.
Commenting on the FTTH launch Carolan Lennon, MD Wholesale, open eir said “The FTTH rollout will provide speeds of up to 1Gb/s to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses. It has the potential to truly transform many areas of Irish life, particularly in rural Ireland and we are very excited that it is now officially underway.”
The routes for the rural FTTH rollout have today been published on the NGA fibre broadband network map.
